Tutorials 1 – 2

Tutorial 1: Data analytics

Location: Ballroom 3

Andrew Inglis, USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program-Procurement and Supply Management

Description: The rapid growth in digital data in supply chains is profoundly changing the opportunity for data visualization and analysis. However, the fundamentals remain people make decisions in supply chains. Therefore, we must design visualization and analysis with the user at the center of design. When designing for people, it is important to understand how people’s brains interpret data when making decisions.

Additionally, digital data has changed how we can calculate and use indicators to better target actions. We will look through a “Decision Driven Design” approach how we can use digital data to better target future actions not past issues.

Tutorial 2: Public Health Network Design Role play

Location: Tau

Ryan Purcell, LLamasoft

Description: In this workshop, attendees will:

  • Collaborate with colleagues to design the network for a country health system
  • Review demand, make choices on site locations and capacities and try to work as a team to obtain the best balance of access and cost
  • Directly experience the tradeoffs that lie at the core of network design and see if you can manage them.
