Biography

Dr. Kamu-Mbuthia has a PhD in Natural Sciences (Public Health Nutrition) from the University of Vienna, Austria, a Master’s in Public Health from Curtin University of Technology, Australia and a BSc. In Agriculture and Home economics. Her main areas of specialization and interest include maternal and child nutrition especially IYCN, community nutrition and epidemiology, agricultural innovations for enhancing food security, nutrition-sensitive agriculture as well as m-health for improving the delivery of nutrition messages. She is involved in different research activities towards the improvement of nutrition in the community through nutrition-sensitive agriculture and works in multi-disciplinary research with different stakeholders in health, agriculture, animal sciences, and sociologists among others. She has worked on different projects in the areas of food security as well as doing consultancies in these areas for different NGOS. She also supervises master’s and doctorate students in nutrition and nutrition-related disciplines.
