Biography

Deogratius (Deo) Kimera has over 20 years’ international experience in Health systems strengthening, including thirteen years of experience serving as a chief of party/Country Director for centrally awarded multilateral USAID health supply chain projects in Botswana (3years), Tanzania (6years) and Ghana (4years). In addition, Deo has work experience in health supply chain management in Uganda where he worked with the national health commodities supply chain system. Deo played a pivotal role in the setting up of PEPFAR supported HIV logistics systems in Nigeria under the Global HIV/AIDS Initiative Nigeria (GHAIN) Project where he was the Lead Logistics Technical Adviser.  In addition, Deo conducted various supply chain related technical assistance in Zambia, Armenia and Georgia under Drug Donations and Access Programs.

Deo is knowledgeable in the core functions of health commodities supply chain management and has traceable record of engaging multiple partners, including the Global Fund, PEPFAR, USAID, DFID, World Health Organization, Ministries of health, and other host-country institutions involved in health service delivery. He is a public health specialist (MPH/Health Economics) and a Pharmacist (Bachelor of Pharmacy) with demonstrated skills in leading supply chain projects for HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and Maternal Newborn and Child Health and, Family Planning. Previous work experience includes; effectively managing up to 150 staff with a  management approach that cultivates positive relationships with host country counterparts and donor agencies, the private sector, academic institutions, and aid/relief partners to identify innovative solutions for health and chronic disease management
